Readers, writers, subscribers and others...
WELCOME
to The Other Herald's internet "home"!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"The best thing a writer can do, at
any
stage in their writing life or career, is simply to read and write as
much as possible. We hope to help in whatever small way, to enrich that
writing life by encouraging writers of all levels...
...to spend at least
a few minutes every day reading and writing something other than
grocery lists, school or work papers, and junk mail!
"TOH," being a small
publication, is just the right size for reading on a lunch break or
while waiting in line. Make the most of those little bits of time in
your day!"
--T. F. Rice, Editor
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Other Herald is a creative arts/ literary news published
monthly Nov. 2006-July 2010 and quarterly thereafter, offering to connect/ support/ grow/ showcase writers of
Western NY and beyond. Everyone is a potential reader and contributor to TOH, but especially it is the intention of TOH to reach
those who may not already feel included in the writing community as a
whole, such as those who are subject to the isolation of small-town
living, intense self- judgment, confined to nursing homes, young adults
often ignored by publishers. ...Send a subscription to someone who fits this need today!
Contributors, readers and subscribers are from all over the US, as we all as other countries. We're little, but we have a big heart!!! Most issues end up with a loose theme, however, no need to limit submissions to a specific theme; we accept general submissions year round.
We "herald" all kinds of good writing and information of interest to
writers and creatives. Some submissions may not fit our needs, and we will say so, maybe even with constructive comments (when was the last time a publisher did that?!). Special preference is not given to any submission based on circumstance, location of postmark, or mentions of previous publication. Alternately, well-published writers are not turned away; if we think they have something important to say or well said, then we're willing to publish them right next to a first-time-published writer! HERE, ALL WRITERS ARE ON EVEN GROUND.

ARCHIVED ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Other Herald
is growing...
Please note the June 2010 issue themed "Machines & Mechanisms" is our very last "small-format" monthly issue.
After much feedback from our readers and subscribers, we're permanently switching over to our larger,
booklet-style format nicknamed "the next big thing"
effective with the July '10 issue.
Issues will be released
in this format, on a quarterly, basis as follows:
July 2010
October 2010
January 2011
April 2011
July 2011
October 2011
etc.
Question: Is my subscription price increasing? No! It's still $10 / year to U.S. addresses,
$10 plus additional cents/month for international postage (inquire for amount).
Question: What will I get for my current paid-up subscription? Same time period*, less #issues but altogether more content and value. Instead of "12" 50-cent issues per year
(a $6 value + postage),
you'll receive "4" $3 issues
(a $12 value + postage).
*Refer to your
most recent mailing label for expiration date of current subscription; you will receive any issues included in the period ending on that date. (For example, Aug. 2011 expir. date receives issues through July 2011.) To receive the very next issue after the date your subscription expires, simply renew your subscription, and you won't miss an issue!
If other questions or concerns about this change, please direct them to the Editor at: theotherherald@yahoo.com Thank you.
