The Other Herald is  "for  writers
&  readers"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Readers, writers, subscribers and others...

THANKS

October's issue was our 50th!

TOH's longevity is thanks
to
all of the contributors
for feeding their talent
and having the courage
to share their work

...
thanks to the readers
and subscribers
for helping me just "scrape by" the publishing and postage costs
(TOH has no paid ads)
...
Please enjoy the latest issue,  Jan. 2012, which is themed for the four basic elements--- but the writing/photographs/etc. filling the 20 pages are probably not what you are expecting---interpretations of the theme are creative and even curious. A short article
tells about the origin of the
idea of the "four elements"---
water, earth or dirt, fire, and air. Read and be inspired...

The Other Herald is a creative arts/ literary news published monthly Nov. 2006-July 2010 and quarterly thereafter, offering to connect/ support/ grow/ showcase writers of Western NY and beyond. Everyone is a potential reader and contributor to TOH, but especially it is the intention of TOH to reach those who may not already feel included in the writing community as a whole, such as those who are subject to the isolation of small-town living, intense self- judgment, confined to nursing homes, young adults often ignored by publishers.   ...Send a subscription to someone who fits this need today!

Contributors, readers and subscribers are from all over the US, as we all as other countries. We're little, but we have a big heart!!! Most issues end up with a loose theme, however, no need to limit submissions to a specific theme; we accept general submissions year round.

We "herald" all kinds of good writing and information of interest to writers and creatives. Some submissions may not fit our needs, and we will say so, maybe even with constructive comments (when was the last time a publisher did that?!). Special preference is not given to any submission based on circumstance, location of postmark, or mentions of previous publication. Alternately, well-published writers are not turned away; if we think they have something important to say or well said, then we're willing to publish them right next to a first-time-published writer!  HERE, ALL WRITERS ARE ON EVEN GROUND.

THE OTHER HERALD issues are
archived at the University of Buffalo
Special Collections Library in Buffalo, NY as part of their "Poetry Collection."

Visit their web page
http://library.buffalo.edu/pl/about_us/

to learn more about this fascinating project, and if you ever have the opportunity to attend an event there you
will not be disappointed. Several years of our issues are cataloged at this library.

-----------------------------------

Some of our back issues are also available at various zine libraries across the U.S.
I am working on sending out a few of the extra copies of each issue to libraries with interest in poetry, fiction, & writing prompts. I am limited to the postage left after an issue is mailed to subscribers, so if you have a library near you - please consider donating a subscription, or postage. *Thanks for your support, always.*
